DESIGN PARAMETERS
Cloacina was selected to provide a high-efficiency wastewater treatment system for an affordable multi-family housing Farmworker Community development in California. This 11.4-acre community, currently under construction, will consist of 200 apartments designated for farmworker households with lower incomes. Phase 1 of the development, completed in spring 2024, required a flexible and sustainable wastewater treatment solution capable of meeting the community's daily needs while facilitating water reuse.
Cloacina supplied the MEMPAC-M100 system engineered to treat an average daily flow of 100,000 gallons with a peak capacity of 200,000 gallons per day. The system’s low-flow operational capability allows it to efficiently handle flow rates as low as 5,000 gallons per day, making it highly adaptable for fluctuating demand. This flexibility made the MEMPAC-M100 an optimal choice for the project, where space and environmental constraints were significant factors.
The effluent produced by the system meets stringent regulatory standards with effluent concentrations of <10 mg/L for BOD, TSS and Total Nitrogen. This high-quality treated water is suitable for reuse, specifically for irrigating the adjacent avocado orchards, thereby creating a sustainable cycle that benefits both the housing development and the local agricultural community.
